Love After Love

The time will come when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome, and say,

Sit here. 

Eat.

You will love again the stranger who was your self.

Give wine.

Give bread.

Give back your heart to itself,

to the stranger who has loved you all your life,

whom you ignored for another,

who knows you by heart.

Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.

Sit.

Feast on your life.

(I first heard this poem recited on Oprah a few years ago, and I instantly fell in love with it. She keeps a copy of this poem in her bathroom and it's the first thing she sees in the morning, every day! I think that's a wonderful way to start out your day. Don't you?)

A Meadow Lark Sang

Unknown

The child whispered, "God, speak to me"

And a meadow lark sang.
The child did not hear.

So the child yelled, "God, speak to me!"

And the thunder rolled across the sky
But the child did not listen.

The child looked around and said,
"God let me see you" and a star shone brightly
But the child did not notice.

And the child shouted,
"God show me a miracle!"
And a life was born but the child did not know.

So the child cried out in despair,
"Touch me God, and let me know you are here!"

Whereupon God reached down
And touched the child.

But the child brushed the butterfly away
And walked away unknowingly.

As many of you know, I love to laugh and I am always looking for funny/silly videos to watch. I have had some requests for some more "Veggie Tales" videos, so for the next few weeks, I'll be posting some of my favorite "Veggie Tales" silly songs. Here's one of the first ones that caught my attention a few years ago. It's about belly buttons...what's not funny about that? Hope you enjoy this silly song.
